Dr. Sandra Dufour is the owner of White River Family Eyecare and Hanover Eyecare. Dr. Dufour worked with Dr. Bernal, the founder of White River Family Eyecare, since 2002. Dr. Bernal has retired, and Dr. Dufour is committed to providing excellence in eye care to her patients and the community. Dr. Dufour practices primary care optometry and has a broad interest in many areas of eye care, including pediatrics, glaucoma management, dry eye treatment, contact lens fitting, and pre- and post-op care for refractive surgery.
Dr. Dufour graduated magna cum laude from the State University of New York, College at Geneseo, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. She received her Doctor of Optometry Degree from the State University of New York College of Optometry in 2000. Her optometric education included an internship at Castle Point, New York V.A. Medical Center, and a Pediatric, Strabismus, and Vision Therapy internship at SUNY Optometry.
While attending optometry school, Dr. Dufour was the recipient of numerous scholastic honors and graduated second in her class. After graduating, she went on to complete a post-doctorate residency program at the Newington, Connecticut V.A. Medical Center. She published an article in the October 2002 issue of Optometry, the Journal of the American Optometric Association, on Trigeminal Neuralgia.
Dr. Dufour is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Vermont Optometric Association. She has served as the AOA InfantSEE Coordinator for the State of Vermont since 2004.
Dr. Dufour lives in Windsor, Vermont, with her husband, Eric; son, Adam; daughters, Sophia and Madeline; and their dogs, Winnie and Enzo. She loves spending time in nature and enjoys fly-fishing, skiing, kayaking, and hiking. She also loves to cook and travel.
